Berlin: Christmas Market at the Gendarmenmarkt

Dresden: Oldest Christmas Market – Dresden Striezelmarkt
The Dresden Striezelmarkt has opened its doors every year since 1434. It is therefore Germany’s oldest Christmas market. For the opening, a giant stollen is cut in a special ceremony and then transported in a procession from the Dresden Zwinger to the Altmarkt. Another highlight is the world’s largest Erzgebirge step pyramid in the middle of the Striezelmarkt. With a height of 14.62 meters, it was even included in the Guinnes Book of Records in 1999 as the largest pyramid.
