Dixieland Festival Dresden – the city in the magic of jazz

For almost 50 years, the International Dixieland Festival has been an integral part of the jazz and blues scene. As the largest cultural event in the Saxon state, it attracts around 500,000 visitors every year in May and celebrates the musical genre of jazz and blues for several days spread throughout the city.

The central point of the Dresden festival are various events in clubs and bars, but also the traditional opening in the Dresden Zoo: Dixieland in Familie. In addition, the annual Jazz Band Ball at the Kulturpalast Dresden and the Blues, Boogie & Swing at Dresden Airport are just two of the events taking place every year. Another characteristic of the international festival is that many events in the city are free of charge for visitors.
