Since 2010, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt has been reflecting on its historical heritage and presenting itself nationwide as the Ottostadt Magdeburg. The Elbe and cathedral city is drawing attention to itself.

The city on the Elbe is not reinventing itself, but is focusing specifically on its personalities and traditions. Two of its personalities: the first Roman-German Emperor Otto the Great and the inventor and diplomat Otto von Guericke.
